In the Super Over, Pakistan lost to the co-hosts by five runs after failing to reach the 19-run mark.
Pakistan’s Super Over was bowled by veteran pacer Mohammad Amir, who gave up 18 runs. The Green Shirts could only muster 13/1 in retaliation.
Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq responded to the loss on his YouTube channel, saying the team is headed for a “downfall.”
“Babar Azam and his associates ought to take a seat and consider the style of cricket they are playing. However, judging by our selection and cricket, I believe our game is doomed,” the veteran right-hander stated.
On the other side, legendary all-arounder Shahid Afridi questioned the team’s tactics in pivotal moments.
“By choosing Iftikhar to play the opening ball of the super over rather than Fakhar, they committed a grave error. Fakhar would have been better off with the left-arm fast bowler because to the bowling angle. On his YouTube channel, Afridi stated, “I’m not sure who instructed Iftikhar to confront the left-armer.
Afridi also expressed doubts about Mohammad Amir’s Super Over performance.
“During the match, Muhammad Amir bowled exceptionally effectively, and I believed they would continue in the super over as well. However, he gave up a lot of extras in the super over, which further hurt Pakistan’s chances, said Afridi.
“He’s got experience and can bowl yorkers.” He continued, “I think he shouldn’t have given up so many runs because the ball was reversing as well.”
Legendary pacer Waqar Younis, on the other hand, said that the USA’s triumph over Pakistan was historic and that the national squad appeared “helpless.”

“USA grounded Pakistan in their opening game. History’s been registered. Pakistan looked exhausted and helpless in the field. Congrats USA for a thumping victory,” Waqar tweeted.
