Following Pakistan’s defeat by the United States in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Malik made these remarks.

The previous captain, who led his team in the 2021 T20 World Cup, thinks Babar has an uncompromising and stiff attitude to captaincy. He maintained that Babar has a tendency to remain true to his ideas, even when they fall through, and to not adjust to new circumstances.

Malik also brought up the fact that Babar hasn’t altered his batting approach in the last four years, including the assignment of particular players to particular batting positions.

“I want to go into more detail about this captaincy chat. The roadblock that you [Babar] have created in your thoughts is the issue. These are the obstacles if you determine that Shadab Khan must bat at a specific number and that Azam Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed must bat in the final overs, and you follow through on it precisely, added the former captain.

He highlighted the idea that a good captain should be able to grow and change with time, but he hasn’t seen any development in Babar’s leadership.

In their opening match at the current edition, the US gave Pakistan, the runners-up of the T20 World Cup 2022, a crushing defeat.

Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, and Muhammad Rizwan, the top order of Pakistan, were unable to record a significant inning.

Shadab Khan and Babar Azam helped Pakistan secure a solid score, while Azam Khan was sent back to the pavilion on a golden duck.

India and the Men in Green will play in New York on June 9.
