According to insiders, the former pace bowler gave the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) a report on the team’s performance in which he disclosed the reasons for the Men in Green’s unexpected elimination from the competition.
He echoed white-ball coach Gary Kirsten’s comments, saying that Pakistan’s squad lost close matches against the United States of America (USA) and India because they lacked cohesion during the T20 World Cup 2024.
In order to raise the team’s performance, Wahab Riaz claimed that thorough planning was required.
After being shocked by the USA in their debut match, Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 came to an end at the group round.
According to sources, coach Gary Kristen voiced concerns about the team’s lack of cohesiveness after their disastrous performance in the main event, saying that nobody was supporting anyone and that everyone was working alone.

Despite having worked with several teams in the past, he claimed to have never seen a situation like this in his coaching experience.
In addition, Gary Kirsten noted that the team’s proficiency level is noticeably behind that of the global community. “No one knows which shot to play and when, despite playing so much cricket,” he asserted.
It is pertinent to mention that the 2009 champions finished third in Group A standings with four points in four matches.
