Pakistan Hockey Team Received by COAS at General Headquarters

In line with a release from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the national hockey team paid a visit to the Rawalpindi General Headquarters.

The COAS complimented the team for their exceptional performance throughout the conversation and stated that the players have greatly elevated the country’s standing.

“We are dedicated to offering them all-encompassing assistance to guarantee their sustained prosperity,” said General Asim Munir. The COAS also wished the players well on their upcoming pursuits.

The PHF President conveyed appreciation to the COAS for allowing him to meet and engage with the team.

After a nail-biting 4-1 victory over Pakistan in the penalty shootout, Japan emerged victorious in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024, with Pakistan securing the second slot.

In the tournament final, Japan and Pakistan, who had both gone undefeated, threw caution to the wind and became inseparable by the end of regulation time, with their scores even at 2-2.

After a lengthy 13-year break, Pakistan made its Sultan Azlan Shah Cup final debut.

The men’s hockey team representing the country put up outstanding performances during the competition, defeating South Korea, Canada, and the event hosts Malaysia. However, they were unable to force a draw with New Zealand in the group stage.

President Tariq Hussain of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and other PHF representatives were also present at the meeting.

Other PHF officials including President Tariq Hussain of the Pakistan Hockey Federation were also present for the event.

The Army Chief was thanked by the PHF President for meeting and talking with the team.
