Following the Majlis-e-Shoora meeting, the party spokesperson said that Sirajul Haq will remain the JI head as the central Majlis al-Shura had fully reposed its faith in him. He said that “Sirajul Haq would continue carrying out his duties in accordance with the party constitution.”
Sirajul Haq would also conduct a press conference on Sunday, according to Qaiser Sharif.
The JI leaders insisted throughout the meeting that Sirajul Haq was not the cause of the party’s loss in the most recent General Elections 2024, but rather “rigging.”

Majlis-e-Shoora also agreed, according to Qaiser Sharif, to carry on with negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on alleged election “rigging.” He declared that until the votes are returned to the “genuine” victors, JI will not stop protesting against what he considered election manipulation.
Following the defeat in the general elections on February 8, Sirajul Haq made an announcement earlier on February 12 that he would be stepping down as the party’s leader.
In a brief post on X, Sirajul Haq stated, “I accept responsibility for the election defeat and have resigned from the post of party ameer” (previously Twitter).
