Thanks to this outstanding performance in the Christopher Nolan-directed film “Oppenheimer,” the actor had an amazing 2023. His biographical portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist who became known as the “father of the atomic bomb,” was well received by critics.
He was nominated for an Oscar in 2024 for Best Actor as a result of his performance.
But as time has gone on, the actor has proven himself. His roles in “Peaky Blinders,” “Red Eye,” “28 Days Later,” and “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” garnered him recognition.
According to a source cited by the UK news agency Metro, he is among the leading candidates to play James Bond after his performances attracted the attention of producer Barbara Broccoli.
The insider stated, “With an actor who is at the top of his game, this is a way to elevate the Bond franchise.”
In Oppenheimer, Clay Bunker, who acted with Cillian Murphy, predicted that the latter would “fare beautifully” in the part.
It is important to note that Christopher Nolan declared that directing a 007 film would be an “amazing privilege” and that one of his cast members may be the ideal fit to portray James Bond.
