The media regulating body issued a statement saying that news on cases involving subjudice would not be allowed and that the channels would only be allowed to broadcast material that is in the public interest.
Additionally, PEMRA instructed the media to refrain from offering their “opinions on subjudice cases.” It also cautioned against mentioning ongoing legal matters in TV shows in a way that can ‘influence’ probes or trials.

The regulating authority has made it clear that material will only be permitted to be distributed through media channels if it is judged necessary for the public.
