The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was also urged to actively participate in problem resolution during the meeting.
Later in the gathering, the forum honored police officer ASI Adnan Qureshi, who was killed, and offered his family sincere condolences. They prayed for ASI Qureshi, chanted Fatiha for him, and wished the injured people a quick recovery.
The former prime minister of AJK, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Secretary General Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Vice Presidents Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz and Dr. Najeeb Naqi, Central Deputy General Secretary Abdul Khaliq Wasi, and Information Secretary Barrister Iftikhar Gilani were among those present at the meeting presided over by the PML-N AJK, Shah Ghulam Qadir.
Azad Kashmir witnessed violent clashes between the police and activists of a rights movement amid a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike across the territory, which left at least one police official dead and several others injured.
Sub-inspector Adnan Qureshi, who was dispatched to Islamgarh to disperse a Muzaffarabad gathering organized by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The JAAC, which is leading the traders in most regions of the state, has been pushing for the elimination of the elite class’s privileges, subsidised wheat flour, and electricity provided at the cost of hydropower generation in AJK.
Several cars, including a magistrate’s automobile near the Poonch-Kotli route, were destroyed by the rowdy protestors. Additionally, all of the AJK’s markets, trade centers, offices, schools, and dining establishments were closed.
