PPP Announces Three Finalists for Punjab Governor Role

According to insiders, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Makhdoom Ahmed, and Nadeem Afzal Chan are the front-runners for the prestigious position. The PPP and PML-N have a power-sharing arrangement that would see the PPP appointed governor of Punjab.
Following the power-sharing agreement, Asif Ali Zardari will be the joint candidate for Pakistani president, and Shehbaz Sharif for the role of prime minister.
The PPP will have the senate chairman, the NA deputy speaker, the Punjab and KP governors, and the Sindh and Balochistan governors. The PML-N will have the NA speaker position.
A meeting will be facilitated by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto today to finalize the candidates for the coveted offices. Today, Nasir Hussain Shah said that the PPP will lead Punjab and the PML-N will lead Sindh as governors.

Speaking about the power-sharing agreement between the parties, a PPP leader stated that the PML-N has the option to retain control of Sindh’s governor’s office, transfer it to the PPP, or give it to a different ally.

According to him, the People’s Party has shared the deputy speaker and chairman Senate positions, but the PML-N would continue to hold the Speaker position in the National Assembly. According to a former Sindh minister, a decision about the Senate’s deputy chairman has not yet been made. He claimed that the PPP had previously held the position of governor of Punjab.

In response to a query, he stated that Sindh should adopt the MQM. “It will be more advantageous to include all allies,” he continued.
