Karachi Port Sets New Record for Highest Cargo Handling in 24 Hours

The port successfully handled 20,300 metric tons of rock phosphate at the GTL (General Terminal Logistics) private terminal in a single day.

This accomplishment was largely made possible by the GTL terminal.

According to a spokesman for Karachi General Terminal Logistics (KGTL), this was the most cargo that Karachi Port had ever handled in a single day.

The ship that broke all previous records in this endeavor was transporting 55,000 metric tons of imported rock phosphate from West Africa.

When the logistics are broken down, the West Wharf handled 30,000 metric tons of the rock phosphate that was unloaded, and the East Wharf handled the remaining 25,000 metric tons.

The big cargo was successfully conveyed by the ship, Sarocha Naree, demonstrating the port’s ability to handle large shipments with efficiency.

A representative stated that the manufacture of different fertilizers requires the presence of rock phosphate.

This vessel imports rock phosphate, which is used by Fatima Fertilizers.
