Imad Wasim Owns Up to Pakistan’s Defeat Against India

Speaking at the pre-match news conference prior to Pakistan’s most recent encounter against Ireland, Imad discussed the Green Shirts’ struggles against their bitter rivals.

India put Pakistan up for a pursuit of 120 points in the T20 World Cup 2024 on the challenging field of Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Green Shirts lost the game by six runs despite having a respectable start to the chase.

Imad Wasim took the field as Pakistan needed 47 more runs from 46 deliveries after reaching 73/3 in 12.2 overs.

The all-rounder disclosed that he was unable to carry out the preparations as intended in order to intensify the run chase against India.

“We wanted to pursue India all the way. That was our game plan.” It was a challenging pitch to bat on. Imad said, “I let the team down because normally I go into these situations and stay very calm and finish the job.”

It was my responsibility to complete this pursuit, and I am very upset by that. But mistakes are a part of life, right? “I think my planning was correct, but it wasn’t well executed,” he continued.

He continued by saying that, in terms of mentality, Pakistan has fallen well behind the other teams. “I think our mentality was the main factor in our World Cup loss. We must overcome our fear of failing and do something different. It all comes down to mindset; other teams have also altered their ways of thinking, and we are trailing them because we haven’t done the same,” he continued.

Imad Wasim indicated that while it was beyond of his purview, “drastic” changes are currently necessary for the team in answer to a question about the necessity of such changes.

Though it’s outside of my purview, I believe adjustments are necessary. The all-rounder stated, “There needs to be a significant shift in order for us to go forward and compete in world cricket as it is now played.
