FBR reports that telecom carriers have received the information of 5,000 non-filers today.
According to FBR, telecom companies have already begun notifying non-filers of the possibility of their SIM cards being blocked and will be receiving new lists of non-filers every day.

According to the FBR, tax income will rise if non-filers’ SIMs are blocked.
Moreover, the General Order under Income Tax Ordinance 2001, Section 114B, was issued after FBR meetings with PTA, and telecom operators. The purpose of the meetings was to proceed SIM blocking of non-filers for tax year 2023.
An FBR spokesperson added that telecom operators have agreed to block SIMs manually in small batches.
Moreover, following FBR meetings with the PTA and telecom carriers, the General Order under Income Tax Ordinance 2001, Section 114B, was released. The discussions’ main goal was to move forward with SIM banning non-filers for the 2023 tax year.
A spokesman for FBR also mentioned that telecom providers had consented to manually disable SIM cards in small batches.
In addition, following FBR meetings with the PTA and telecom carriers, the General Order under Income Tax Ordinance 2001, Section 114B, was made public. The main goal of the discussions was to further SIM’s proposal to outlaw non-filers for the 2023 tax year.
A representative for FBR said that telecom firms had consented to physically remove SIM cards in small batches.
