Maulana Fazalur Rehman stated during the budget debate on the National Assembly floor that although the government wants taxes from the people, it is not prepared to grant them rights.

He predicted that after the “interference” in politics stops, everything will be OK. According to Maulana Fazalur Rehman, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led federal governments “lack” a majority in the parliament, meaning that the nation is being ruled by a minority.

Azm-e-Istehkam, the recently announced counterterrorism operation, has been described by Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a “destabilizing initiative” that will further destabilize Pakistan earlier on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference here, the top lawmaker stated that he believed this was Operation “Adm-e-Istehkam” rather than Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, which would further undermine Pakistan.

Under the banner of national identity, Fazalur Rehman emphasized the equality of all citizens, saying, “Our history is about fighting against slavery.” Did we succeed in making Pakistan our slaves?

He expressed concern for the state’s lack of authority in the nation and mentioned that armed militant organizations were operating in parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
