Additional Foreign Secretary (Afghanistan and West Asia), Ahmed Naseem Warraich, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met him warmly at the Islamabad International Airport and posted on X account.
FM Azerbaijan will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit, and he will also have in-depth talks with Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Earlier, the two parties struck an agreement for the import of at least one LNG cargo each month while the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) administration was in power. Pakistan LNG Limited and Azeri Company SOCAR signed the agreement.

However, Pakistan was only able to acquire a small number of LNG cargoes from Azerbaijan and was unable to maintain regular supply. Separately, Pakistan has a long-term arrangement with Qatar and has been buying LNG from them for many years.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year, worldwide LNG prices rose, making it difficult for Islamabad to get spot cargoes and causing extensive power disruptions.
