The Pakistan Cricket Board terminated fast bowler Haris Rauf’s contract on Thursday after he declined to travel to Australia for a three-match test series in the previous year.
Chief selector Wahab Riaz stated at the time that Rauf withdrew at the last minute after indicating his availability. The medical panel told Riaz that Rauf was fit to play and that there were no concerns about his fitness. Rauf’s hearing explanations, according to the PCB, were inappropriate.
Rauf’s contract was terminated retroactively to December 1. Additionally, until June 30th, the board has prohibited Haris Rauf from participating in any overseas Twenty20 league.
“For any sportsperson, representing Pakistan is the ultimate honor and privilege,” the PCB declared. “It is a material breach of the central contract to decline to be a member of Pakistan’s test squad without providing a medical report or an acceptable explanation.”
Rauf took a plane to New Zealand for a Twenty20 series that Pakistan lost 4-1 after Pakistan lost the test series 3-0. Additionally, Mohammad Hafeez, who took over for Mickey Arthur as the squad director for the Australian and New Zealand tours, and the PCB parted ways.

The PCB posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Hafeez’s passion for the game has inspired players and his mentorship during the tour of Australia and New Zealand have been of immense importance.” “Hafeez, the PCB wishes you luck and success in all of your future endeavours.”
