Electricity Tariffs Slashed for Industries as PM Shahbaz Announces Rs 10.69 per Unit Cut

In order to strengthen the nation’s industrial sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the prices of energy will be lowered as part of his power package.

The price of power for the export and industrial sectors has been set at Rs 34.99 per unit following the cut.

The prime minister office said in a statement that the industries will no longer be burdened with more than Rs 200 billion. on order to make the cost of goods competitive on the worldwide market, the package has been introduced.

This package will greatly boost exports while lowering the cost of producing industrial and agricultural goods.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) earlier on June 6 approved a hike in the power rate for customers of power distribution companies (DISCOs), with the exception of K-electric, of Rs3.3 per unit.

NEPRA states that all consumer groups will be affected by the fuel costs adjustment (FCA) rate hike, with the exception of lifeline customers and electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS).

June electricity bills will be higher for consumers due to the most recent increase in electricity costs.
