Iran’s acting president, Mohammad Mokhber, presided over an emergency meeting of the leaders of state and government where the decision was made.
It was resolved at the meeting that Iran would hold its presidential election on June 28. Candidate registration will take place between May 30 and June 3, and the election campaign period will run from June 12 to June 27.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution, Article 131, stipulates the establishment of a council to oversee the nation’s executive affairs for a duration of fifty days and organize for the presidential elections.
