According to Variety, Tabu will portray Sister Francesca in the television series based on the book “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
The creators of the series, which was first commissioned in 2019 under the name Dune: The Sisterhood, have not yet disclosed the launch date.
The character of Sister Francesca, played by the Indian actor, was characterized by Dune: Prophecy’s makers as “sturdy, perceptive, and captivating, leaving a deep impact in her wake.” Her return to the palace upsets the delicate balance of power in the city; she was once the Emperor’s great love.

“Dune: Prophecy” follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces that threaten the future of humankind and found the fabled sect that will be known as the Bene Gesserit. The story takes place 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ ascension, within the expansive universe created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert.
In Dune: Prophecy, Tabu will appear with Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, and Jade Anouka.
Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin are also part of the cast.
Up to two new Dune movies have been released, with the third movie, “Dune: Part Two,” set to open in theaters in March.
Tabu is among the leading actors in the Bollywood industry having won the National Film Award for best-actress twice (Maachis and Chandni Bar).
Throughout her acting career, she has received seven Filmfare Awards, the top award in the Bollywood industry.
Before her casting in Dune: Prophecy, she starred in Life of Pi, The Namesake, and the BBC’s A Suitable Boy.
