Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali resigns over alleged election rigging

In a startling declaration, Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha of Rawalpindi acknowledged, “I acknowledge accountability for manipulating the 2024 election.”

Amid escalating political tensions, particularly with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other parties alleging electoral malpractice in the February 8th polls, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta of Rawalpindi Division resigned from his position on Saturday in protest against irregularities in the electoral process.

Addressing reporters at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today, Chatta announced his resignation, expressing regret for having wronged the people of Rawalpindi Division.

He confessed to the occurrence of “rigging” within Rawalpindi Division and assumed responsibility for it.

“We altered the outcomes, turning losers into winners with a margin of 50,000 votes,” he asserted, surrendering himself to the authorities.
