Pakistani Doctors Granted WFME Recognition for Global Employment

The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) has attained accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

In an announcement on X, the Council emphasized that this recognition underscores PM&DC’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of medical education in Pakistan.

This accomplishment grants WFME recognition for a decade, enabling Pakistani students to apply for ECFMG and USMLE exams, facilitating their pursuit of further training and professional practice in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

PM&DC President Prof Dr. Rizwan Taj expressed excitement over this recognition, highlighting its reflection of ongoing efforts to enhance medical education standards nationally. He emphasized its significance in empowering Pakistani students to pursue global healthcare careers.

Dr. Taj extended gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Minister of Health, NHS&C Secretary Health, Surgeon General, PM&DC Council members, and Mr. Farzand Ali, International Consultant on Collaboration and Recognition, for their contributions. He also praised the support of medical colleges and hospitals such as Shifa College of Medicine, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, University of Lahore, Agha Khan Medical University Karachi, and Army Medical College Rawalpindi for their assistance during WFME evaluations.

He concluded by commending the entire PM&DC staff for their tireless efforts in achieving this accreditation.
