The 48-year-old star of the Oscar-winning film 'Parasite' has been discovered deceased.

South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, renowned for his role as the affluent patriarch in the Oscar-winning film Parasite, has been found dead in an apparent suicide at a Seoul park, according to officials in the capital.

Lee, 48, faced police questioning multiple times over allegations of illicit drug use amid a government crackdown. He claimed to have been deceived into taking drugs by a bar hostess attempting to blackmail him.

Authorities discovered Lee during a search prompted by a missing person report. His agency, HODU&U Entertainment, expressed sadness at his death, urging caution against misinformation and speculation.

Lee, born in 1975, had notable roles in South Korean films and television, including the acclaimed 2018 series My Mister and Apple TV+’s 2021 sci-fi thriller Dr. Brain. He is survived by his wife, award-winning actress Jeon Hye-jin, and their two children.
