Mohsin Naqvi stated that he had a respectful and honorable 25-year friendship with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, was visited by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif at his Islamabad home.
After a gap developed during the federal elections in February 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the home of a former ally to restore relations.
PM Sharif acknowledged Fazlur Rehman’s religious services and the role he played in defending democracy in Pakistan during the meeting. PM Shehbaz Sharif suggested the creation of a committee in order to restore relations.
