Maryam Nawaz Sets Up Probe Committee to Investigate Sahiwal Hospital Fire

A meeting to assess the province’s progress on health reforms was being chaired by Maryam Nawaz. Azhar Kiani, the provincial advisor, will chair the committee.

She gave the committee the assignment to find the culprits so they might be imprisoned.

The chief minister bemoaned the state of Children’s Hospital and said, “If this is the state of the largest hospital in the province, what would be the state of other medical facilities?”

The chief minister of Punjab gave his approval to renovate the hospitals in 11 of the province’s major cities and to expand the number of field hospitals to 105.

On Saturday morning, a large fire broke out at the Children’s Ward at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. It was purportedly caused by a short circuit.

Some parents even brought their children home, but the hospital staff moved the children from the ward to a secure location.

The fire that claimed the lives of seven youngsters was put out with the help of five fire department vehicles.
