Renowned actor and director Khalid Saleem Butt, aged 76, passed away in Lahore on Thursday night. The cause of death, as reported by APP, was complications arising from liver and kidney-related diseases.
Butt, whose career spanned back to the 70s, made significant contributions to both Urdu and Punjabi cinema, along with notable appearances in TV series. His latest project, the on-air show “Khaie,” featured him in the role of Faysal Quraishi’s father.
Beyond his acting career, Butt also directed a film and received the prestigious Pride of Performance award for his noteworthy contributions to the arts. His legacy includes acclaimed PTV productions like “Jangal Pura” (1997), “Boota to Toba Tek Singh” (1999), and “Landa Bazaar” (2002).
Condolences flooded social media from fellow actors, with Faysal Quraishi sharing a heartfelt video on Instagram, reminiscing about their shared journey, particularly during the filming of “Boota to Toba Tek Singh.”

Khalid Saleem Butt is survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters.
