Lawyers Attack Khawar Maneka Outside Court

Details indicate that following Khawar Maneka’s allegedly disparaging comments during the case hearing, ladies threw bottles at him.

Judge Shahrukh Arjumand was scheduled to deliver the reserved ruling in this case today, but it was heard in both the district and session courts.
The attorney for Khawar Maneka asked the court to move the matter to a different judge during the hearing. I “don’t want the case verdict from you,” Maneka said.

The judge said that the no-confidence plea had already been rejected and asked Maneka to check with his attorney before reporting back to the court.

He also said that the judge handling this matter will have to render a decision.

Judge Shahrukh Arjumand underlined, “The case cannot be transferred to another court; it is the high court’s authority.”

At this Judge Shahrukh Arjumand left the courtroom and went to his chambers without announcing the verdict.

Session Judge Shahrukh Arjumand corresponded with the High Court over the Nikah matter that Imra Khan and Bushra Bibi are still pursuing.

The judge claims in the letter that Khawar Manika has voiced doubts about him in front of the court at today’s hearing.

The judge further noted that on April 30, 2024, Khawar Maneka’s plea was earlier rejected.

He said that the complainant’s attorney has consistently attempted to stall the proceedings by offering justifications. According to the judge, it is inappropriate to voice particular complaints about the presiding officer.

Arjumand stated that in this instance, the arguments made by each side were heard in great detail.

Recall that on May 23, an Islamabad district and sessions court reserved its decision about appeals contesting the sentences of PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the iddat case.

The decision on appeals against the former first lady’s and premier’s seven-year sentence has been reserved by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand.

Usman Riaz Gul, the PTI’s attorney, and Rizwan Abbasi, Khawar Maneka’s attorney’s assistant, both appeared in court.

The ruling was supposed to be made public by the court on May 29 (today).
