In addition to the two giants making a comeback, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” stars Rebecca Hall as scientist Ilene Andrews and Brian Tyree Henry as conspiracy theorist Bernie. Actor Dan Stevens from “Beauty and the Beast” and “Downton Abbey” makes his debut as the quirky veterinarian Trapper.
In the follow-up, Godzilla and Kong both detect a threat emanating from Hollow Earth, their home planet, and they realize that cooperation is their only chance of victory. Jia, the adopted daughter of Andrews, played by Kaylee Hottle, assists them in their quest and possesses the ability to detect the enemy’s whereabouts.
Director Adam Wingard told Reuters, “The technology’s there, the confidence is there, it’s time to be able to do a movie that lets the (monsters) tell their own story from their own (point of view).”

“I was simply ecstatic to be able to do all these visually stunning scenes where you’re just with the monsters for up to eight minutes at a time with no spoken dialogue.”
The director of “Godzilla vs. Kong,” David Wingard, continued, “That’s the dream movie I’d always wanted to see as a kid and that’s what this is all about, fulfilling that lifelong sort of goal.”
“My character is in a state of panic for the majority of the film, so count how many times I say ‘oh my god,’ like how many times it’s screamed, how many times it’s whispered,” the actor remarked.
On Wednesday, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” opens in theaters around the world.
