Babar Azam, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, scored 10,000 runs in T20 cricket during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9.

Babar Azam surpassed West Indies great Chris Gayle to become the 12th batter in history to reach 10,000 T20 runs. Nevertheless, he is now the fastest to reach 10,000 runs.
Azam required just 271 innings to score 10,000 runs, whereas Gayle needed 285 innings and Indian sensation Virat Kohli 299 innings to do the same.

Azam accomplished the elusive milestone during his heroic 72-run innings amid his team’s disastrous loss to Peshawar Zalmi.

Zalmi were at one stage at 136-5 but were bowled out at a pitiful 154 after suffering a terrible collapse at the hands of the outstanding bowling of Karachi Kings.

With the opening ball, Karachi Kings’ seasoned player Shoaib Malik dismissed Saim Ayub. Babar Azam managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over, but his team lost early in the power play as they were down 40-3 due to a lack of support from the opposing end.
The captain and Rovman Powell then teamed up to help their team recover from the early damage. Between them, they stitched together a partnership of 68 runs from 46 balls. Azam served as the anchor, while Powell was the main aggressor in the partnership with a 25-ball 39 that included two sixes and three boundaries.

Powell attempted to reverse hit Mohammad Nawaz, but he top-edged the ball, allowing it to drop into Mir Hamza’s safe hands, ending his fascinating knock.
For Zalmi, Azam top-scored with a valiant 72 off 51, including seven boundaries and one six.
